About my Civic

I got the car off a friend back in 2009.  When i got it the stock SOHC motor was blown, it had a lot of sun damage from sitting outside for a couple years, the interior was misused during this time plus birds and bugs violated it.  So to say I started with a clean slate is far from it.

Once i was able to work a deal so i can get the car into my possession i got it towed start to the shop and ordered my motor.  A lot of people ask why did i go with a JDM B16A SiR2 motor from the older Civics.  Well to be perfectly honest thats all i could afford at the time.  I have a large family and need a project car and DD in one plus it need to be reliable and trust worthy with mods.  When i ordered the motor i also got the LSD tranny and picked up a set of CTR cams and got the ECU chipped to get the most out of it.  Also i added Spoon replica headers wrapped in black exhaust/header wrap and matched up with a Skunk2 Cat-back exhaust.  Swap done and car running. Check!

Next up was cleaning up the interior and exterior.  I was able to do mild detailing on the interior but nothing would fix the major problems like stains, the smell or other thing that would consist of tearing the interior apart.  The exterior was in serious need of a paint shop.  So this all would come to me later down the line.

I then deployed for a year to Afghanistan for a year.  Thru out that time that's when i ordered parts and had them shipped to my wife and i also saved up for the paint.  I order all my suspension components from the GC/Koni Coilover setup, Buddy LCAs, ASR Subframe brace, Tanabe rear sway bar, Energy Suspension Master Bushing kit, Buddy Club Camber kits front and rear and Password JDM rear strut tower bar (car already came with a Skunk2 front STB).  All this to make sure it could handle turns and the stance i was looking for.

I also got a little interior stuff over time to help assist in cleaning the interior up,  red Tenzo R seats, GripROYAL "Royal Halo" steering wheel, Buddy Club Short shifter w/ Buddy Club white shift knob, Tenzo R emergency hand brake, Broadview mirror and a DIY Headliner and Pillars in Red Gator print.  I also changed out the door panels for those of a CTR.  A little modding had to be done since they are for a RHD car.

For the wheels/stance setup i went thru a couple different ones until i got it where i wanted it at.  My first set was Axis Decades with Maxxis Lip Technology 18x8s, front was a +30 offset and a 2" lip and the rear was +25 offset with a 4" lip.  Once i figured the wheels was too big for my liking i went to some XXR 521 16x8 +20 all around wrapped in Falken 205/40 tires.  Then i went to my current setup, a set of ESM 009R-SL wheels.  They are a German inspired wheel with some designing cues of the Borbet Design A, except the ESM wheels gives you the look of a 3 piece wheel and a step lip.  I have these in a staggered setup 16x8 +20 in the front and 16x9 +15 in the rear, but the tires are Falken 205/40 all around.

For the exterior i went to a good friend to get it re-sprayed back to the factory color.  I did have to replace a couple of things like the front & rear bumpers and the front & rear tail lights.  The front bumper is just the factory 96-98 bumper but i added some factory 96-98 fogs, black housing headlights and a no "H" grille.  For the rear i changed it to a 99-00 rear bumper and 99-00 rear tail lights.  Thru out the paint process i also had the side skirts paint matched, added mud guards, a Mugen replica front lip and a Slick Shades rear window visor.  The one thing unique i've done is the hood.  A lot of people just thinks it's just another stickerbomb, but it's not.  When i came home from deployement i wanted all my friends and family that supported me since i've been in the military to sign my hood.  My hood consist of my kids, co-workers, friends, family, fellow car enthusiast and other people from around the world.  The stickers are to help fill in spots, nothing more.

For entertainment inside i went with a Alpine headunit match with my iPod classic, i upgraded the speakers inside all to Alpine as well and added two 10" MTX subs and Kenwood amp.

Thru out the process my family and friends have supported me on this and pushed me to go further.  Without there motivation and my dedication this would have been possible.
