About my Ride

It is a FULLY rebuilt and restored (down to the unibody) 1995 Civic EJ1 coupe. I am the original owner, and for the first 10 years, it was a daily driven EX coupe with some mods and a Jackson Supercharger on the SOHC motor pushing 155 WHP.

In Feb 2005, I began the transformation to what you see before you with no sponsors..................a completly OEM but hybrid EJ1 coupe, finishing in Sep 2006. It is now a Civic Type S with a uniquely built B18C1 with LS internals pushing 180WHP (215-220 crank HP) and 131WTQ (160 lb/ft at the crank) tuned with uberdata. The tranny is also unique in that it is a DC2 Type R tranny with an LS 5th gear, LS 4.266 F/D, and Quaife LSD, enabling me to get super low highway RPM. My average hwy economy is 30-32mpg with a best of 35mpg, yet 1st through 4th are still very quick  The interior is very unique with full OEM interior of DC2 Recaro seats with ITR suede and red stitching everywhere else, custom embroidered floormats, Momo accessories, S2000 AP1 steering wheel with functional horn and cruise control, and USDM/JDM hybrid speedo cluster with amber lighting and red lit needles. The Neuspeed coilover suspension is connected to a DC2 5 lug hub and brake conversion with Spoon twin block calipers, Powerslot rotors and Hawk HPS pads. The exterior speaks for itself with many custom but subtle body mods. The I.C.E. consists of Alpine, JL audio, and 1st gen Polk Momo.

This car is anti-rice and is my vision of a car that could have come off the showroom floor this way. JDM items were not the main consideration. Aftermarket items were afterthoughts. It is fully street and California state ref smog legal. It is purely for driving, and not for racing so don't ask me how fast it is cause I really don't know. I speculate that it can do 0-60 in the low 6 second range and 1/4 mile in the low 14 second range.

I have been to 10 show events (including HIN) with the car and have placed in the mild or street categories in 4 of them ...............DUB, Extreme Autofest, NOPI, and National City.

Here are all the finite details.

I saw your Civic at Hot Import Nights L.A. I thought it was one of the cleanest, best looking, and well built Hondas I have ever seen. Your pics don't do the car any justice. It looks 10 times better up close.

For the S2000 wheel, the horn and cruise do work. It was not plug and play and required the use of an S2000 SRS clock spring spliced into the dash harness. I have not hooked up the airbag yet for fear that the airbag could blow being hooked up to a possibly incorrect signal from the 92-95 SRS computer. If anyone out there has any insight about this, please let me know.

The painted logos and S2K steering wheel are one of a kind. I've never seen an S2K wheel in earlier Civics, only in later gen Civics. Do you have the horn, cruise, and airbag hooked up and working???

I love your philosophy of "less is more" and that you focused on OEM hybrid conversions and the overall functionality, practicality, and legality of the car versus aftermarket gimmicks and frills. The car is very clean and simple, yet classy. I would only suggest a little more power with some boost.

I put in the LS 5th and final drive to bring my 5th gear highway RPM's as low as possible for best possible highway fuel economy. 1st through 4th are still ITR/B16 gearing, so I still stay in VTEC when acclerating. The difference between the 4.4 and 4.266 F/D is only 3.1% so acceleration didn't suffer greatly.
